Sound familiar?
You sit down in your favorite reading spot and get ready to lose yourself in another galaxy far away. You can hear the roar of rocket engines, the zip of laser guns, and the unending silence of space. You’re totally immersed in the world when you turn the page and frown, another action scene? Didn’t we just have five? You’re already several chapters in and the main character still feels distant; you don’t even really know why the bad guy is evil, and why are the aliens always trying to wipe out humanity? You close the book and sigh in frustration. Another book that should’ve been a videogame. Will you ever find that balance of action, science, and something meaningful?
Your life is more than action. Your books can be too.
Meet Caleb
I have always loved sci-fi, whether books, movies, or even video games. Stories with characters you can really connect to, that tackle real human issues like war, loss, or sacrifice. However, somewhere along the way, sci-fi stories started trading meaning for spectacle. Just a display of fancy CGI with only a surface-level message, rather than a heartfelt exploration of what it means to be human. I hate getting excited by a story, only to feel like nothing was lost, nothing was gained. This is why I aim to write stories that explore the depths of space and the human heart.
